I know i’m lazy and these days i’m seeing its heights. I’m so lazy that i don’t wanna type “g(1) m(2) a(3) i(4) l(5) .(6) c(7) o(8) m(9)”, OMG 9 letters !!, every time i wanna check my mails.

So here is a tip if u want to type just one letter to access ur fav websites.

Step 1. Create a bookmark to the page.
2. Go to that page under Bookmarks menu and right click on its properties.
3. Specify the letter of ur choice against the Keyword in the popup. Example I typed ‘g’ for my gmail case.

That’s it u r done. Hope I don’t get lazy to type this single letter soon !! I’m running out of ideas. 😦

If you like this Idea then I’m sure you must be very lazy like me. Njoy being so, I really love it 🙂

When i was in School my mom always used to say never compare with guys who are ranked below you, but compare with the guys who are ranked better than you and that’s the only way you can grow better. Yes true to some extent, but you know what, the confidence which you need to grow day by day is derived by comparing yourself with the former ones not the later.

Yes i’m talking about the strengths of the countries in their warfare abilities. Ever since i was a kid, me and my friends always discussed about American war planes esp. Stealth planes, UK naval capabilities, Russian Tanks and Chinese army. The final outcome of that discussion is as usual a little disappointment ‘Why not we’, why don’t people discuss about Indian planes, ships, army. Finally when there were hints of war flaming between India and Pakistan during the Mumbai attacks (so called 26/11 attacks,  even here we compare with US again :)), i decided to find where exactly we stand in this World. I started asking my big brother (Google) and he came up with an interesting link in Wikipedia.

‘ List of countries by size of armed forces ‘

Then i realized the relief, the satisfaction, the confidence we get when we compare with the guys who are ranked below you. I realized i was not born in a weak or crippled country. I realized India as a country which not only can defend itself but also can attack. When it attacks, it can attack very powerfully.

Here are some interesting facts about India.

The total number of Active troops working around India and round the clock are 1,325 thousand, ranking India at top 3 out of 194 countries in the world.
My mom would ask me to look at the two countries above you. Yes obviously China and US. But even here it depends on the size i.e.  area of the country that decides the number of troops to be deployed round the clock. US is 3 times bigger than India, but yet it has just 65000 people more.

Coming to the modern warfare, the War planes and Nuclear Weapons

India has 1430 war planes standing 4th in the world (remember, out of 194 countries) while short of around 1200 planes from the topper United States. We are one of the nine countries having Aircraft carriers.

We are one among the nine Nuclear states in the world excluding NATO shared countries.

The most important factor of war, the Defense budget.
India stands at 11th position allocating $27bn, while the second ranker is allocating around $70bn. Yes you heard it right, the second ranker not the first. The first one is out of comparison with a massive $711bn by none other than our muscle man United States of America. This made it the King of the world.

Overall the stats looked good for India (at least not the worst like i thought, maybe i got used to it by looking at the Olympics medals chart :)). The data provided here may not be upto date but I’m sure it can give you an overview at least.

Chill out, India has got the muscle too.

Finally towards the end of the year( 2008 ) i felt like i read a interesting, responsible and thought provoking novel.

The novel starts off  describing a boy coming from slums from one of the North Indian States (usually referred as Darkness by himself), about his aborted education,  his family esp. his father, his first job and later ensconcing as an Entrepreneur in Bangalore.

I would say Mr. Arvind is very successful in describing the character of this boy, his feeling esp being poor and looking at the rich around him and trying to jump into the other side of the court no matter what it takes.

The analogies used to compare this poor young man with his rich landlord , the corrupted politics, the corrupted police and prostitution in India, really makes the reader to think about the true India. If someone from outside the country wants to know about India i would refer this book to them. This will give an insight of India at our so called paradises (Villages) level but not just the superficial high technology and highly industrialized cities.

Overall this is a must read for every Indian who believes in bringing change in India. The change should be from the core i.e. from our paradises.

Hope we can expect many such amazing works from Aravind in future.
